My pitch would be that I would buy it to make a “Top Gear” style movie clip. And I really would, because making a Kickstarter that says “Just give me money so I can have this Jaguar” doesn’t seem like a good pitch. And I don’t like frivoulous Kickstarters. I don’t even like the idea of Kickstarter. But damn do I want this car. Such good condition, love the styling and its a $2 scratch off lotto away from my grasp. If I had just a bit more money, uggggggghhhhhh.

And in case my Kickstarter somehow spiraled out of control (it has happened), my reach goals would be to buy an E-Type to compare it to ($50K) and to hire James May to help me review them both ($200K). I mean, James May is out of work, he could use the money. Maybe my Kickstarter should just be for hiring James May to help me review Jaguars.

Hell, I’m not even sure I can talk about opening a Kickstarter on a blog. Its kind of like solicitation, isn’t it? Ugh, so much doubt in me right now. I need to stay off of Craigslist.

No, that’s really stupid. If you want money, go make money.

Hell, why not..

I’m thinking about a “Just give me money you pricks” GoFundMe.

Kickstarter is not what you think it is.

I don’t think I could in good conscience contribute to anyone buying a 40 year old XJ6.

I kid, it’s beautiful. I’m sure it would make a fun source of much frustration. It’s too bad you couldn’t Uber with one of these because that’s what I would want picking me up. I’d be worried we wouldn’t make the trip, but it’d be cool.

I’ll mail you a dollar if you promise to never again think of trying to crowdfund the purchase of personal property. But I’m going to want it back if you welsh on the deal.

Totally agree. I’m trying. I worked hard, got a degree in engineering, got my own place, paying off debt, paying bills, doing the “right” thing. Then I see people build Youtube empires on kitten videos and raise $50K plus for a potato salad Kickstarter. I feel like a guy moving fridges in an Dire Straits music video.

Don’t get me worng, I got a plan. The debt won’t last forever and I will be able to afford more things. But I missed the cheap Pantera boat, I’m waving goodbye to the cheap NSX boat and the cheap classic Jaguar boat is not going to wait for me to save up. After this post, I won’t even mention the word Kickstarter. But when you’re working hard and you see people get money for nothing... you get ideas.

Yup, and I feel ya on that part. I just have always seen GoFundMe and those general funding kind of websites for people that actually need the money or support.

Like there’s plenty of cars that I’d love to have but can’t afford, sadly I can’t just start a funding page so I can get them.
